My name is Brennan O'Yeung and I am a fourth year Mechanical Engineering student in the Schulich Engineering Program at the University of Calgary. I founded Escape with STEM to inspire students to explore STEM related education and career opportunities through “escape room/locked room” puzzles and experiences.
We have delivered hands-on programs to the Piitoayis Family School, Chiila Elementary School after-school program, Steffie Woima Elementary School, Boys and Girls Club of Calgary and the Indspire Soaring Indigenous Youth Empowerment Conference.
Since the Covid pandemic, I have created online escape rooms for IndigeSTEAM, Cybermentor and the Calgary Board of Education.
Our direct delivery program have reached over 1,000 students over the last 3 years and our online initiatives have supported over 2,000 students to date.
“You made them work hard and they didn't even realize it because they were having so much fun! We are so grateful for all the work you did to bring such an amazing experience to our students.” – Piitoayis Family School
“I was so impressed how organized the crew was and how professional and kind they were to all staff and students. I loved watching the students work at each of the stations. The respect that was shown to Brennan’s team was wonderful. I could see all students were so engaged in the project.” – Piitoayis Family School
“The students and teachers all loved the program! I should tell you as well that they are not easily impressed. Many of our learners are not always engaged and sometimes service providers produce material that is beyond their depth.” – Piitoayis Family School
“We had an absolutely fantastic time and we can't thank you enough for your generosity and philanthropic support of STEM education at our school. I would love to collaborate on your program and am already looking forward to having you return.” – Steffie Woima Elementary School
“I was really impressed and warmed with your natural ability to connect with them. You all went out of your way to try and engage each one individually throughout the event. That is key for anything to work, building connections and rapport.” - Boys and Girls Club of Calgary
Thank you to everyone who support Escape with STEM!!
